Protecting Exposed Deck Lumber Cuts

When pressure treated lumber is cut, it leaves exposed regions of the board that are not protected against the elements. The crew at In-Dex Construction keep a bottle of wood preservative handy so that all cuts are sprayed and treated properly throughout the deck building process.

New Deck In Stittsville Ontario

This beautiful new deck was completed in Stittsville Ontario.

As with all things in life aging is a process. Decks get old and tattered over the years and landscaping is either nonexistent or overgrown. The good news is that the new products available on the market today will far outlast the produxcts that were used 10 or 15 years ago.

For this customer in Stittsville, they wanted a complete new outlook on life when they strolled out their back door. They wanted a private oasis for their family and friend to enjoy.

With this said, the original deck and landscape were removed and replaced with a new deck by In-Dex Construction and landscape by “Yards Unlimited”.

This beautiful deck was a replacement for an old interlock stone patio. The backyard needed a facelift and a new deck was chosen.

We first removed the existing stone steps and patio and replaced it  with this 16’ deep by 24’ wide deck.  This deck was built on floating footings unattached from the house. All framing was completed with treated lumber while all topping and finishes were completed with western red cedar.
